Local shopping being urged by Lethbridge Chamber this holiday season

LETHBRIDGE, AB – New provincial supports for businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic are being welcomed by the Lethbridge Chamber of Commerce.

CEO Cyndi Vos says they’re gratified that all levels of government are maintaining a strong safety net of support for businesses and individuals.

She notes while the move this Sunday to tighter restrictions is not desirable, the only way we can move toward economic recovery is for the government to reduce the transmission of the virus.

“Having some cash flow through government supports will help our job creators to hang on a bit longer,” Lethbridge Chamber CEO Cyndi Vos

Vos also says businesses will no doubt face incredible strain for the rest of the holiday season as some have to shut down and others will have to reduce capacity.

“Businesses will do what’s necessary to support public health, but they cannot do it alone,” says Vos. “The Chamber continue to urge Lethbridge residents to shop local, shop safely, and support our charitable sector this holiday season – it’s simply the right thing to do.”
