LETHBRIDGE, AB – An anticipated anti-masking protest at a Lethbridge business on the weekend did not result in any tickets or fines regarding COVID-19 health measures.
Contingency plans were put in place and a visible presence of officers was established to limit what the Lethbridge Police Service says was the risk of unmasked protesters infringing on the safety and well-being of shoppers and staff.
However, nothing really materialized in terms of disruptive behaviour.
Lethbridge Police say those not originally wearing masks either complied without incident or never entered the business after the mandatory health measures surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic were explained to them.
LPS will continue to monitor the situation, and enforcement of both City of Lethbridge and provincial health measures will be provided where appropriate.
