UPDATE: Lethbridge’s arenas, pools remaining closed

UPDATE:  – The City of Lethbridge says it will be re-evaluating recreation and culture facility needs now that the provincial government is allowing limited team sport training to resume on Feb. 8.  An update will be shared once new plans are in place.

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The City of Lethbridge will be keeping all recreation and culture facilities closed for the foreseeable future, despite the province going ahead with some limited re-openings next week.

Starting Monday (Feb. 8), one-on-one training will be allowed at certain facilities across Alberta by certified instructors.

The City’s Rec and Culture Manager, Robin Harper, says easing restrictions to include the broader public could still be months away, so opening facilities right now wouldn’t be feasible in terms of operating costs.

He says the re-opening of pools and arenas will be re-evaluated, though, once more information and dates are announced by the provincial government.

Ice will be maintained at the ATB and Enmax Centres, however, in order to support community groups that are allowed to use those facilities.
