COVID-19: Albertans 75 & older can book vaccine appointments

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Starting Wednesday, February 24th Alberta seniors 75 years and older can start booking their first of two COVID-19 vaccinations.

Bookings will open up Wednesday at 8:00 am for seniors that fall into that age group.

The government says there are a couple of ways people in that age group can set up an appointment. One is by calling Health Link at 811 or online at AHS COVID Vaccine

Alberta Health Services says it’s hired extra staff and tested its online appointment portal anticipating high volumes when it comes to calls and clicks.

AHS says seniors must return to the same clinic to receive their second dose of the vaccine to ensure appropriate timing between doses and to help manage vaccine supply.

Family members can book on behalf of those over 75 who are eligible to receive the vaccine. They will need the Alberta Health Care number and date of birth of the person being vaccinated and can make the appointment from a desktop computer or hand held device.

Vaccination clinics will run daily between 8 a.m. and 3:40 pm, but AHS expects to extend those hours by Mid-March.
