LETHBRIDGE COUNTY, AB – A large blaze Wednesday evening at Green Prairie Hay along Highway 3 between Lethbridge and Coaldale.
Crews from four fire departments in the region, including the City of Lethbridge, responded around 7:00 pm.
When firefighters arrived on scene, they found a 58,000 square foot warehouse engulfed in flames. Smoke could been seen for several kilometres, as far away as Cardston.
Crews battled the fire overnight into Thursday to take care of any hot spots. The extreme heatwave also posed a challenge for firefighters given the heat of the day and heat from the fire itself.
Right now the cause is under investigation. Early damage estimates are approximately $5 million.
Fortunately, no one was injured.
