Trio arrested by Lethbridge Police for alleged bank frauds

Lethbridge Police have arrested three travelling criminals who they say came to southern Alberta with the sole purpose of committing fraud.

Last week, LPS say a fraud took place at the Scotiabank in Picture Butte and as a result, Scotia locations in the area were put on alert.

It’s alleged a women went into the University Drive branch on the west side and tried taking over an account there using the same photo for ID, but with a different name used in Picture Butte.

Staff realized what was happening right away and called police.

Further investigation determined the woman was wanted on more than 90 outstanding charges in several provinces.

44 year old Annie Cousineau of Montreal is facing numerous charges, including attempted fraud and using a forged document. Two men, 24 year old Jeff Augustin of Montreal and 22 year old Nickolson Lamarre of Calgary are also facing fraud-related charges.

All are scheduled to appear in court in the next few days.
