Wind WARNING for southwest Alberta

LETHBRIDGE, AB – A very blustery start to 2022 across southern Alberta.

A wind warning has been issued for the southwest.

Strong west winds gusting to 110 km/h and blowing snow will continue Saturday night.

Blowing snow is causing reduced visibility along area highways, including Highway 3 from Pincher Creek to the British Columbia border and highways near Waterton. Visibility will be reduced to 400 m or less at times.

Westerly winds along the southern Foothills and plains to the east will gust up to 110 km/h. Winds through the Crowsnest Pass will be lighter with gusts up to 80 km/h. Strong winds will continue through the night before easing Sunday morning.

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions due to high winds and reduced visibility in blowing snow.
