Mid-January thaw on the way for southern Alberta

LETHBRIDGE, AB – If you’ve had enough of this latest winter cold snap, you’re in luck!

Things are going to start changing across southern Alberta with a big melt on the way.

Environment Canada says by the start of next week (Jan. 10), temperatures are forecast to jump to well above normal with highs between 8°C and 13°C expected for Lethbridge and area for a good portion of the coming week. There is the potential as well that some January daytime temp records could be broken across southern Alberta.

if it all pans out, it would be a warm up of close to 35°C in a just a couple of days. Gotta love winter chinooks!

With these changing conditions on the way, be prepared for very strong wind to develop into Monday with blowing and drifting snow across the region.
