Resident input wanted on Indigenous naming of public spaces in Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE, AB – A new online survey is now open as the City of Lethbridge looks for feedback on ways in which Indigenous peoples are reflected locally in public spaces.

This city and others around the world have been using the concept of “Indigenous placemaking” to showcase Indigenous languages, art, history, and more.

The City of Lethbridge is working directly with representatives from Indigenous communities, including elders and youth and members of the Reconciliation Lethbridge Advisory Committee.

You can find the survey, until February 28th, on the Get Involved Lethbridge website.

All the information will be shared this spring with City Council along with any recommendations to potentially rename, reframe, or invest in new opportunities to highlight Blackfoot and other Indigenous cultures.
