Update: As of 6:15 p.m., police announced that the blockade has been resolved, and traffic is flowing both north and south along Highway 2.
Police remain on scene and are diverting traffic on Highway 2 near the Waterton River bridge north of Standoff as a blockade continues to block traffic heading both directions
An email released by Blood Tribe Police Service says they were called to the scene shortly after 1:40 p.m. Tuesday, after multiple reports from the public about the disruption.
The statement says officers remained on scene until nearby RCMP detachments arrived and took. BTPS officers left the blockade site shortly thereafter and remain on scene routing traffic heading northbound at the intersection of Highway 2 and Highway 509.
Drivers are being asked to avoid the area until the situation is resolved, with suggested detours including Highway 810 or Highway 509 if heading north.
