New home construction in the Lethbridge region is seeing a jump as of late and it has a lot to do with multi-family developments, especially in the city.
Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) says across region, ground has broken on 277 homes over the first half of 2019. That’s a slight increase from the same period last year.
The difference is the number of apartment and town home complexes going up right now within the City of Lethbridge.
CMHC notes work started on 62 units last month. It appears the younger generation of millennials is driving the push for these types of homes.
Home building has begun to see a turnaround in the region after a slow start earlier this year.
