There must be something in the water — Lethbridge H20 ranked best tasting in Alberta

The water coming out of taps across Lethbridge has been crowned the best tasting water in the west.

The 2022 American Water Works Association (AWWA) Western Canadian Conference took place in September, and Lethbridge’s water reigned supreme against nine other cities and municipalities.

Doug Kaupp, General Manager Water & Wastewater, says the secret to best tasting water is from the team operating the treatment place ensuring they’re putting out the best quality of water for the city.

“I contribute our success to both our capable treatment plant and our awesome plant staff,” says Kaupp.

Per year, around 32,000 tests are conducted on our treated water, which ensures the water quality properly maintained and is primed for consumption.

Water & Waste Treatment Engineer Tyler Bennett says that helping to provide this critical service to the city is a privilege and the crews reflect that with their work and pride in their job.

“Our operational staff work diligently 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to ensure excellent drinking water quality for our residents and other customers. We take pride in our work, and are grateful for the opportunity to provide this service to the community.”

Lethbridge also previously won the title in 2016.

The city competed against EPCOR’s Edmonton Water Treatment Plant, City of Calgary, Municipal district of Opportunity No. 17 – Sandy Lake, City of Prince Albert, City of Selkirk, and Buffalo Pound.
