With winter weather settled in, public e-scooters and e-bikes in Lethbridge are being stowed away for the season. Nov. 28 is the last day residents will be able to use the services until warmer weather returns.
Neuron Mobility says it had a successful first season in the city, with a total of 430,000 km being traveled since the service launched in April.
“We are really encouraged by the uptake of rental e-scooters and e-bikes as part of Neuron’s first season in Lethbridge. An overwhelming 99 per cent of riders said that our vehicles have benefited the city and are an important part of the transport mix,” said Ankush Karwal, head of market for Neuron in Canada.
The company also notes more than 63 per cent of trips on the scooters and bikes resulted in a purchase from a local business, according to a rider survey. It found 29 per cent of riders went shopping, 25 per cent rode to a restaurant and 15 per cent took the vehicles to a recreational venue.
“Lethbridge residents really embraced Neuron e-scooters and e-bikes right from the day they launched in the spring. It’s remarkable to see our residents traveling throughout the city in a safe and environmentally-friendly way. The City of Lethbridge is looking forward to another Neuron e-scooter and e-bike season in 2023,” said Adam St. Amant, transportation engineer at the City of Lethbridge.
Neuron’s survey found 52 per cent of scooter and bike trips replaced a trip in a car. About 87 per cent of local business surveyed agreed the rental service makes it easier for locals and visitors to get to local businesses and activities.
