Charity Checkstop accepting donations on Saturday

The 3rd Annual Lethbridge Police Service Charity Checkstop is happening this Saturday, December 3rd at the ENMAX Centre parking lot.

Lethbridge Police Service officers and volunteers will be accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys and non-perishable food items from noon until 4 p.m.

Donations will help benefit the Christmas Hope campaign which is a collaboration between Volunteer Lethbridge, the Interfaith Food Bank, Lethbridge Food Bank, Lethbridge Family Services (Angel Tree), Salvation Army (Toys for Tots) and My City Care (Shop of Wonders).

“The Charity Checkstop is an excellent way for our community to share in an event which highlights gifts of caring, kindness, and commitment,” said Michelle Gallucci, a representative of the Christmas Hope campaign.

“Christmas Hope organizations are exceptionally fortunate to have such a wonderful partnership with Lethbridge Police Service. We are creating magic for families who need assistance in Lethbridge, together.”

Barricades will be set up so those looking to drop off donations can drive up, drop off, meet with volunteers and drive away, all from the comfort of their vehicles.

Cst. Stewart Kambeitz has organized the event the past three years and says everyone involved in the Charity Checkstop is grateful for the generosity and support from the community.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Christmas Hope campaign again this holiday season,” said Kambeitz.

“The past two years we’ve received tremendous community support and we’re looking forward to helping those in need make happy memories this Christmas.”
