Lethbridge students support NDP in mock vote

If students across Lethbridge could vote in the general provincial election both ridings in the city would be represented by the NDP. As part of the province-wide Student Vote, youth across Alberta had the chance to learn about democracy, the government, and the electoral process, and cast ballots for the official candidates.

In Lethbridge West incumbent Shannon Phillips received just under 46 per cent of the student vote. The UCP’s Cheryl Seaborn received 37 per cent of the vote, while the Alberta Party’s Braham Luddu and the Alberta Liberal Party’s Pat Chizek each received eight percent.

In Lethbridge East Rob Miyashiro received 52 per cent of the student vote, with UCP incumbent Nathan Neudorf receiving 36 per cent of the student vote. Alberta Liberal Party candidate Helen McMenamin received 11 per cent of the student vote.

If students across the province could vote in the 2023 general election, the NDP would win a majority government with 47 seats and 42 per cent of the vote. The UCP would earn 39 seats, becoming the official opposition with 40 per cent of the provincial vote.
