Fall Community Foundation grants open

Applications for the Community Foundation of Lethbridge and Southwestern Alberta grants are now being accepted.

The two grants, the Community Priorities grant, and the Henry S. Varley Fund for Rural Life grant, are both accepting applications for the fall 2023 cycle with the deadline in October.

“This is our second and final call for funding this year,” says Executive Director, Charleen Davidson. “Thanks to the continued generosity of our donors, we will be awarding $1.7 million in grants funding across the region for 2023, and we encourage groups to fill out an application. Every project funded enhances the quality of life for everyone living in Southwestern Alberta.”

The Community Priorities grant is the Community Foundation’s largest grant initiative with over $500,000 awarded to support the work of community groups and charities in the region. The grant helps to support one-time costs of construction, renovation, or equipment purchases.

The Henry S. Varley Fund for Rural Life is a grant that provides support for community organizations that work to keep a high quality of life in rural communities. It funds grants to projects with innovation, community collaboration, education, and training and awards over $200,000 annually.

To apply for the grants, applicants are to be a CRA-recognized qualified donee or apply in partnership with one of; a municipality, school district, or registered charity.

Those interested in applying for one of the grants is to contact the Community Foundation’s Grants Coordinator, Caitlin Gajdostik, who will help to answer any questions regarding the application process and host an information session on September 19.

Applications will be accepted until 4 p.m. on October 16, 2023. More information on the grants can be found on the Community Foundation’s website.
