Lethbridge men, charged with second degree murder, have charges downgraded to manslaughter

Two Lethbridge men, originally charged with second degree murder, are instead being tried for the lesser charge of manslaughter.

The judge-alone trial for 21 year old Simon Scout and 25 year old Rylan Twigg began in Lethbridge Court of Queen’s Bench Tuesday morning.

The pair is accused in the death of 45 year old Kenrick First Rider back on November 27th, 2017.

Police say First Rider got into a verbal dispute with two other men at his north side home and it escalated to a physical altercation.

He died at the scene. Autopsy results determined his death to be a homicide.

The trial for Scout and Twigg is expected to last six weeks.
