Lethbridge police charge teen after downtown BB gun incident

Lethbridge Police have charged a teenager following an incident with a BB gun this week in Galt Gardens.

Officers were called out Wednesday (Sept. 11) after receiving reports that someone was in the downtown park with a handgun.

Police tracked the suspect down, but he took off on a bike and left the park.

He was later arrested however, a short distance away. LPS searched the area where the boy was seen in Galt Garden and found a BB gun wrapped in a shirt under a tree.

It’s also believed the teen had shown the gun to another person earlier and tried to sell it to him.

The youth, who can not be identified, is facing charges of possessing a dangerous weapon and obstructing police.

The boy remains in jail.
