Lethbridge man killed, woman injured after single vehicle crash near Coaldale

A single vehicle rollover claiming the life of a 25-year old Lethbridge man early Thursday morning (Sep. 12)

Coaldale RCMP  and the Coaldale Fire Department say emergency crews responded to the collision just north of that town’s industrial area around 1:00 a.m. on Thursday (Sep. 12).

A car with two people inside was reportedly travelling at a high speed along 11 Street when it entered a field at the end of the road. The vehicle flipped and came to rest on the passenger side, then ignited and burned significantly.

Both occupants were found outside the vehicle.

A 25-year old man from Lethbridge was pronounced dead at the scene, also suffering from severe burns. A 20-year old woman was taken to Chinook Regional Hospital and later transferred to a hospital in Calgary in serious but non-life threatening condition.

Coaldale RCMP continue to investigate with help from an RCMP Collision Analyst from Lethbridge. Mounties say all contributing factors are being considered, excluding road and weather conditions.
