Lethbridge man going to trial for allegedly nearly severing man’s finger

A trial is set for next spring for a Lethbridge man, who’s charged with aggravated assault after a man’s finger was nearly cut off during an incident in mid-September.

Lethbridge Police say a 25-year old man, who’s unfamiliar with the city, was lost while walking through a downtown alley, when he saw a man hit a woman. He apparently yelled at that person to stop and was then punched in the face.

Police allege the suspect then pulled a knife and cut the victim’s hand, almost severing his finger. The victim’s injury is said to be bad enough that it requires surgery to repair the damage.

Cody Levi Long Time Squirrel, 23, was arrested on Sept. 17. His trial is scheduled to begin April 2, 2020 in Lethbridge Provincial Court.
