Blackfoot names bestowed at Lethbridge College Indigenous Celebration Day

Indigenous Celebration Day at Lethbridge College included two Blackfoot names being bestowed on long-time supporters of Indigenous education.

Doug Camrud and Mark Brown of RBC were given the names Saakooaapaspii (Last Dancer) and Aatowahkskaakoo (Long Time Many Camps) respectively.

Brown is the regional Vice President – Alberta South for RBC and Camrud recently retired as RBC’s main Lethbridge branch manager.

Indigenous student initiatives and community relations coordinator, Marcia Black Water, says their names are meant as a gift from the Blackfoot community to signify the partnership, as well as the friendship, built over the years.

RBC has been supporting Indigenous education at Lethbridge College since 2007 and has provided nearly $600,000 to support initiatives, events, and programming.
