Lethbridge Police investigating gunshots on west side

Four people are in custody and charges are pending after reports of gunshots on the west side Monday morning.

Lethbridge Police were called to the 400 block of Columbia Blvd West just after 8am.

Inspector Jason Walper says it’s believed to be a targeted incident with the victim telling police he was in his backyard when a white SUV pulled up and a man pointed a firearm at him.

He took off running and heard a gunshot.

The vehicle sped off and was spotted downtown at about 9:20am after getting involved in a hit and run with another vehicle.

Police later observed it parked at The Bay.  Officers arrested two women after they exited the vehicle and walked away.

A man also exited the vehicle and was arrested after he walked into the nearby courthouse.

A second man was later arrested on the north side.

Police say a firearm and ammunition were recovered during the arrest of the second man, while a firearm was also located inside the white SUV.

The suspect vehicle had also been reported as stolen.
