Alberta’s NDP has launched a new website to gather stories from people facing sky-high insurance rates.
Lethbridge West MLA Shannon Phillips says she’s been hearing from people here at home and across the province who have opened up their renewals and seen 20-40 per cent increases.
While in government, the NDP says it introduced a cap prohibiting insurance companies from increasing rates by more than 5% annually.
Phillips says the UCP government let that cap expire and now people are noticing.
She says the NDP will hold the government to account, adding the party is inviting people to share their insurance stories on a new website it’s launched.
Phillips says those stories will be presented in the Legislature.
