The Highway 3 Twinning Development Association wants to see a dedicated provincial program to fund the project.
While Alberta Budget 2019 didn’t include any funding for Highway 3 twinning, association members would like to see reasonable grants included in each budget cycle going forward.
The association is also looking for ten-million dollars per year to finalize engineering, utility relocation, right-of-way and environmental impact design along the corridor.
Members say funding could be increased as available to complete twinning construction in sections over subsequent budget cycles.
The province has already completed functional planning studies for twinning almost all sections of Highway 3.
