Smoking material deemed cause of fatal Nobleford house fire

A house fire last weekend which claimed the life of a 27 year old Nobleford man was accidental.

Firefighters were called to the home on Milnes Street in Nobleford on Saturday morning (Nov. 23) after a passer-by noticed fire and smoke coming from the back of the house and called 911.

Firefighters removed a man from inside, however he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation has determined the blaze was caused by improper disposal of smoking material.

Coaldale Fire Chief, Kevin McKeown says residents are being reminded to make sure all smoke detectors are working and all smoking material is extinguished properly before going to sleep or leaving your home.

The man’s name was not released.
