Lethbridge’s Water Rescue Team frees deer from river ice

The Lethbridge Fire Department’s Water Rescue Team responded to a unique call on Friday after a deer had fallen through the ice on the Oldman River.

Crews were able to get the deer free and to the shore where it disappeared into the bushes.

The City of Lethbridge is reminding residents that if you see a pet or wildlife stuck on the ice to call 911.

Do not try rescuing it yourself as Water Rescue Team members are specially trained to do this kind of work safely.
