A local philanthropist has given a big donation to the Lethbridge YMCA.
Cor Van Raay has given the organization $100,000 which will go directly to the Y’s Strong Kids Fund, which helps subsidize local families who want to become YMCA members.
Van Raay says he heard some families here were having trouble accessing the YMCA because they couldn’t afford it, so he wanted to help out.
Currently the YMCA of Lethbridge provides support to over 900 families in Lethbridge, that’s a whopping 750% increase over this same time last year.
