Fire destroys Pincher Creek’s King Edward Hotel

A fire over the weekend destroying the historic King Edward Hotel in Pincher Creek.

A report of a fire came in around 4am Saturday at the hotel’s location on 729 Main Street.

Everyone was evacuated safely and the surrounding area was cleared.

Main Street was also closed for several hours as firefighters battled the blaze and prevented it from spreading to nearby buildings.

The King Edward hotel was built in 1904 as one of four original hotels in Pincher Creek.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
