Blood Tribe begins administering COVID-19 vaccines to residents 65 and older

STANDOFF, AB – Blood Tribe residents 65 and older are rolling up their sleeves for the COVID-19 vaccine.

The Blood Tribe says it was successful in securing 1,000 Moderna doses for its most vulnerable group which was also identified by both the federal and provincial governments.

The Department of Community Health Team is administering the vaccine over a six day period Feb. 9-12 and Feb. 16-18 at the Multi-Purpose Building in Standoff.

Vaccines can be accessed by appointment only by calling the Blood Tribe Department of Health at (403) 737-3933.

Residents and staff members of the Kainai Continuing Care Centre got their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine last month.

As of Feb. 8 there were 26 active cases of the virus on the reserve out of 66 active cases in all of Cardston County.
