Federal government gives Lethbridge College $1.15 million in research grants

Lethbridge College receiving a nice chunk of change for federal research funding.

Canada’s Minister of Science and Sport made the announcement Thursday (June 13) in Ontario.

The College is getting nearly $1.15 million. A good portion of that money, $1 million, will go towards its Centre for Sustainable Food Production.
Dr. Kenney Corscadden, Lethbridge College’s Associate Vice-President of Research, says this funding will help them involve more students and industry partners in research projects.

“They will allow us to increase our inventory of specialized equipment available to our researchers, build capacity in our applied research department, involve more students and industry partners in research projects, and take a large step towards the creation of a state-of-the-art facility on our campus. This is an important day for moving Lethbridge College’s applied research forward.”

This federal grant, just over $147,000, will also help with the creation of a new greenhouse on campus which will work in conjunction with the college’s Aquaculture Centre of Excellence.
