Police began looking into things this week on Wednesday (June 12) after an 8 year old boy told his mother he was sexually assaulted by a man in a public washroom at the park on June 1st.
The boy was at a birthday party when he was allegedly approached by an older, unknown man who apparently offered the child candy, and then sexually assaulted him in a washroom.
Following the incident, LPS say a witness saw the man with the boy near the water and called out to the child to come back to the party. The man appeared nervous and quickly walked north toward the parking lot.
The suspect is described as a white man, in his 60s, short with a slim build and clean cut white hair. He was also wearing light beige, cargo-type khaki shorts and a white and red plaid shirt.
Anyone who was in Henderson Lake park on the evening of Saturday, June 1st and may have seen a man matching that description, is asked to contact Lethbridge Police.
