Lethbridge man arrested after “high risk” incident

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The search of a north side home Friday turned up weapons and drugs, resulting in the arrest of one person.

Lethbridge Police went to the home on 18th Avenue North and seized several weapons including a machete, large knives and two, replica handguns, as well as a quantity of oxycodone.

Based on information received regarding the weapons in the home, the Lethbridge Police Service Tactical Team was called in to ensure the safety of the public and officers.

46 year old Marty Franzen of Lethbridge, has been charged with four counts of failing to comply with a release order and one count of possession of a controlled substance.

He remains in custody while awaiting a Judicial Interim Release hearing.

Pat grew up in the small Saskatchewan farming town of Foam Lake. After high school, he went to Western Academy Broadcasting College (WABC) in Saskatoon prior to moving to the island. Pat also spent several years broadcasting hockey in the BCHL as well as seven years as the radio voice of the Lethbridge Hurricanes in the WHL. Pat has been working at Cornerstone Funeral Home in Lethbridge as a Certified Life Celebrant and Funeral Assistant since 2016. News and sports have always been Pat's passion from the time he was a teenager and he's always been grateful to have had the opportunity to make that part of what's been a fun and long radio career!
