St. Francis Jr High moves to online learning due to rising COVID cases

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Students at St. Francis Junior High School in Lethbridge will be learning from home this week due to rising cases of COVID-19.

In a letter sent to parents and guardians Sunday, the Holy Spirit Catholic School Division says the most important priority of the district is the safety of students and staff.

There are currently five COVID cases at the school, requiring 41 percent of students, 50 percent of teachers, and 44 percent of support staff to quarantine or isolate at home.

The school division says with the number of staff required to be out of school, educational programming cannot be adequately delivered in a safe and efficient manner.

Students will shift to online learning March 15-18 just as they did between Nov. 30 and Dec. 18 2020.

There are no classes March 19 or 22 and in-person classes are expected to resume on March 23 for all students.
