LETHBRIDGE, AB – Fully-vaccinated Canadians can freely travel across the border again starting Monday (July 5) with reduced public health measures now in effect.
That means fully-vaccinated Canadians coming back into the country at a land border, and who comply with specific criteria, will not be required to quarantine or complete a day-eight test.
Eligible travelers arriving by air no longer have to quarantine in a government-approved hotel, either, as they wait for their on-arrival test result.
Fully-vaccinated Canadian travelers will need to download the ArriveCAN app or visit the website to submit their mandatory information, which includes digital proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
This is phase one of the federal government’s border reopening plan.
Foreign citizens – except essential workers – are still barred from entering the country, no matter their vaccination status.
The current closure of the Canada-US border is set to expire on July 21. The federal government hopes to have more details about a further easing of restrictions before then.
