Total of 219 new heat records set during recent Alberta heat wave

LETHBRIDGE, AB – A week after that unprecedented heat wave baked Alberta, we now have some data to show just how sweltering it was.

Environment Canada says 219 records were broken in this province in a span of just six days.

A total of 19 Alberta communities also broke their all-time maximum temperature records.

The hottest temp recorded in the province during that heatwave was in Grande Prairie, at a blistering 41.5°C (106.7°F) set on June 29th.

Lethbridge set new records five days in a row last week with the hottest being on July 1st at 37.9°C.
