LETHBRIDGE, AB – Another very good sign things around here are getting back to normal, more and more people are back working.
There was a huge drop in the local unemployment rate in June. Stats Canada says the Lethbridge-Medicine Hat area now has the lowest jobless rate in the province at 5.7%.
That’s a drop of nearly 2% from May and the lowest it’s been here in a very long time.
As good as things are looking locally, that wasn’t the case across most of the province however, as Alberta’s overall jobless rate went up slightly to 9.3%.
Nationally, Canada’s employment picture is looking better with over 61,000 people heading back to work in June. That dropped the country’s jobless rate 7.8%.
Almost all of the jobs gains were in part-time work.
