Lethbridge COVID cases quadruple in less than two weeks

LETHBRIDGE, AB – It’s not the kind of trend anyone wants to see right now.

After weeks of steady decline in COVID-19 cases, the numbers are now heading in the opposite direction.

Lethbridge failed to reach “COVID zero” after the third wave and got as low as four active cases on July 12 and 13.

Then, cases started rising and now, less than two weeks later, they’ve more than quadrupled to 17 active cases as of Sunday, July 25.

And that trend is not limited to Lethbridge.

Provincial positivity rates over the weekend, after getting down to 0.6 percent just two weeks ago, hit 2.5 percent on Friday, July 23.

Saturday and Sunday were a bit lower at 2.3 and 1.7 percent respectively.

The 1,083 active cases in Alberta as of Sunday marks our highest active case count in Alberta since June 29.

Alternatively, there are 21 people in the ICU across Alberta – the lowest that number has been since the end of October.

Just three people are in hospital in the South Zone of Alberta Health Services with COVID and none of them are in the ICU.
