Two projects at Lethbridge College sharing $1.3-million in funding

LETHBRIDGE, AB – One of the largest funding announcements in Lethbridge College’s history is boosting two major projects there.

The Canada Foundation for Innovation has awarded more than $1.3-million to support partnerships between the college and local businesses.

Dr. Chandra Singh is getting $935,490 of that funding to create the Advanced Post-Harvest Technology Centre. The goal is to address increasing global food demands by reducing crop loss and waste post-harvest.

Mike McCready is also getting $410, 921 for his work on the Spatial Technologies Applied Research and Training initiative. McCready says it’ll help bridge the gap between the augmented and virtual reality industry and organizations that don’t have the expertise or equipment to properly utilize the technology.

Dr. Samantha Lenci, Provost and Vice President – Academic, says these grants will allow researchers to make a real difference for Lethbridge College’s industry partners.
