LETHBRIDGE, AB – It looks like this region is getting its employment legs back after seeing record-high jobless numbers earlier this year.
More and more people were back working last month, as the Lethbridge-Medicine Hat area saw the local jobless rate fall to 4.4%i n July.
That’s a drop of more than 1.5% from June.
This is not only by far the lowest unemployment rate in the province right now, it’s the lowest this region has seen since before the pandemic hit.
Provincially, the Alberta jobless rate fell nearly a full percent to 8.5% In July, while the overall Canadian unemployment rate dropped slightly to 7.5%.
Across the country, 94,000 jobs were added all of them in the private sector.

Wood Buffalo-Cold Lake: 6.2%
