LETHBRIDGE, AB – Opioid overdose deaths in Lethbridge are up substantially in the first five months of 2021 compared to the same time frame last year.
The provincial government updated its substance use surveillance dashboard Tuesday with data from January to May.
Over those months, there were 25 deaths in Lethbridge from opioid poisonings.
That’s up from 15 deaths between January and May of 2020 which is an increase of 167 percent.
Provincially, overdose deaths are up by 161 percent with 586 people succumbing to opioid poisoning during that time.
