Man accused of beating Lethbridge woman undergoing psych assessment

An Ottawa man accused of beating up an elderly Lethbridge woman in her own home last month, will undergo a psychiatric evaluation.

21 year old Adam Hobkirk-Onate was back in court Friday (June 28) appearing via CCTV from the Lethbridge Correctional Centre.

The 30 day psych evaluation will determine if he’s criminally responsible.

Hobkirk-Onate is accused of sneaking into the basement of a 75 year old woman on Fairway Street South, staying there for a day, and then beating her with a bicycle and stealing her vehicle.

He’ll be back in court July 26th.

I started my radio career in 2015, shortly after graduating from Lethbridge College. I have a very strong passion for local news. Proudly born in 1994, I grew up most of my life in Sylvan Lake, AB and I've lived in the Lethbridge since 2012. I'm a below average golfer on a good day, I take as many hiking trips to Waterton as possible in the summer and I love my two cats, Outlaw and Jynx, and my dog, Maverick, more than most people I know. I look forward to providing accurate, timely news coverage in southern Alberta for plenty of years to come!
