Lethbridge attempted murder trial adjourned to late July

A verdict for an attempted murder trial won’t be handed down until later this month.

Robert John Sheppard’s judge alone trial began in late May and wrapped up in mid-June. The 33 year old was charged last year with several firearms, assault and resisting a peace officer offences.

It’s alleged that he fired several shots into a west side home, in what police say was a targeted incident against his former girlfriend.

Sheppard was supposed to hear his verdict when he appeared in a Lethbridge courtroom last Friday (June 28).

Instead, his lawyer had the matter adjourned to July 22nd at which time the trial judge is expected to make a decision.
