LETHBRIDGE, AB – Two people are in police custody after a shooting on the north side Wednesday night.

Lethbridge Police say they were called to a home in the 800 block of 7 A Avenue north around 10:30pm.

A 49 year old man was taken to hospital with a gunshot wound and he’s currently in stable condition.

No suspects were arrested Wednesday but officers say two people were taken into custody for questioning around noon on Thursday.

Investigators also say the shooting doesn’t appear to be random as the suspect and victim are known to each other.

The incident reportedly began earlier in the day when a verbal altercation turned physical. One person left the scene but returned later on and another fight broke out which ended in a firearm being discharged.

No further details have been released.
