Lots of work taking place around the new Park N’ Ride Transit Terminal in downtown Lethbridge.

Some road closures are taking place to accommodate construction. The intersection of 5th Avenue South and 8th Street is shut down starting Monday (July 8) No through traffic will be allowed, however there will be access to both the downtown library and to Stafford Drive.

New traffic lights are being installed as well as better sidewalks to increase pedestrian safety.

As work progresses down 5th Avenue, that intersection will re-open and then the intersection at 7th Street will close for similar work.

The City of Lethbridge says so far work has been completed in the alley at the northwest corner of the Park ā€˜nā€™ Ride and is continuing clockwise around the site. The entire road work project is expected to be complete by the end of July.

Lethbridge Transit will be rerouted around the construction but the detour will not impact route times or pickup/drop-off locations.

The new transit terminal is slated to open in early September. Once complete, the facility will provide residents with a place to access City transit services that is protected from weather and offers amenities such as ticketing and washroom facilities.
