Minor injuries in Sunday night industrial fire

Three people sustained minor injuries in a north side industrial fire Sunday (Aug. 21) night. Fire crew responded to the 2400 block of 2A Ave N around 8 p.m. to find flames and smoke venting from one of several stacks on the property, according to the city.

Two plant workers were assessed by emergency services and were not taken to hospital. One firefighter was also injured and continues his shift, the city said in a news release.

“Crews were on scene for several hours trying to fully extinguish the fire while minimizing damage and loss,” it reads.

The city said a damage estimate is not available yet, as the machinery has to be fully inspected. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
