New Lethbridge optometry clinic aims to make eye care more affordable

A new eye clinic in Park Place Mall is aiming to bring affordable eye care to Lethbridge. Specsavers opened its first Alberta location with a grand opening on Sept. 21 and plans to spend $25 million by 2024 to expand across the province. The brand plans to open 50 stores across the province and create 750 jobs.

“It’s a really exciting opportunity to bring a brand to the people of Lethbridge that’s going to transform eye health hopefully — so give them great access to amazing quality eye care and access to high quality and affordable eyewear,” said Bill Moir, general manager for Specsavers Canada.

The store sells glasses starting at $69 and provides a 3d eye scan as part of each exam, which the company says helps detect eye diseases early.

“I am seeing across Lethbridge and in fact Alberta as a whole, I don’t think customers are getting the best service when it comes to optometry,” Moir said.

The company operates more than 2,500 stores in 11 different countries.
