Large quantities of meth, carfentanil seized from Lethbridge hotel

Lethbridge Police seizing nearly $84,000 worth of drugs from a local hotel and vehicle.

Police were at the Superlodge hotel along 7th avenue south Friday for an unrelated matter when an officer saw a suspicious vehicle he recognized from a previous investigation.

The owner of the vehicle had outstanding warrants and was arrested in his hotel room where officers also recovered drugs, drug paraphernalia and a large amount of cash.

In total, police seized 1.5 pounds of meth, 0.25 pounds of carfentanil and 40 grams of crack cocaine along with $14,000 cash and ballistic body armor.

35 year old Michael Newman Davies is facing charges in relation to the bust. He remains in custody to appear in Lethbridge Provincial Court on Thursday.
