Horse races back at Rocky Mountain Turf Club

The first full weekend of May is coming up and that means it’s opening season for horse races at the Rocky Mountain Turf Club.

This year marks the 27th year of the Rocky Mountain Turf Club participating in horse racing at Lethbridge & District Exhibition, with them leasing the property in 1996.

The horse races always start the first full weekend in May with race days every weekend following from May to June and then from September to October.

General Manager of the Rocky Mountain Turf Club, Rose Rossi says that she always looks forward to the first full weekend in May and that RMTC is a place to stop in and enjoy yourself at.

“The attendance last year was very good, a lot of new people that came,” says Rossi.

“There’s six race tracks in Alberta, we are part of Travel Alberta, Indigenous Travel Alberta, we had a lot of new people coming from everywhere that we are a part of their tourism, a place to stop in at and you can enjoy yourself and it’s free.”

Those interested in attending a horse race or looking for more information can check out the Rocky Mountain Turf Club website. An update regarding the start of the Warrior Relay Races will be announced soon.
