Unemployment rate in Lethbridge, Medicine Hat sees increase in April

The unemployment rate for Lethbridge and Medicine Hat saw a 0.6 per cent increase from March to April. According to Statistics, the region’s 5.7 per cent unemployment rate last month was also an increase compared to the same month in 2022, which was 5.4 per cent.

The 5.9 per cent unemployment rate for the province saw a 0.2 per cent month-over-month increase. That number however is down year over year compared to the same month last year which was 6.1 per cent. Across the country, the unemployment rate stayed steady at five per cent in April.

The Wood Buffalo and Cold Lake region recorded the lowest unemployment rate last month at 4.1 per cent.
