Boulet Family starts permanent endowment fund for former rugby coach

Thanks to a generous donation from two University of Lethbridge Alumnus, a permanent endowment has been established for the Ric Suggitt Women’s Rugby Memorial Award.

Toby and Bernadine Boulet have donated $20,000 to ensure that future generations of student athletes will receive the support they need.

The award is in memory of former Pronghorns rugby coach Ric Suggitt and the legacy he left behind after his tragic passing in 2017.  Suggitt was also one of the reasons Logan Boulet, son of Toby and Bernadine who passed away after the Humbolt Broncos bus crash, became an organ donor.

“Ric was very special to our son Logan, and he offered to train Logan and his three buddies,” says Toby. “He did a great job with them just out of the kindness of his heart and Logan really took to that — Ric was a larger-than-life personality.”

Any donations that are made to the Ric Suggitt Women’s Rugby Memorial Award, are going to be matched by the ULethbridge Board of Governors as part of the $10-million pledge to student awards.

Those looking to donate to the Ric Suggitt Women’s Rugby Memorial Award can do so here or can donate to any other student scholarship by visiting Campaign for Students.
